VEGAN FRENCH APPLE TART INGREDIENTS
Dough:
Flour: all-purpose flour or pastry flour
Vegan butter
Water
Cane sugar
Vanilla sugar
Salt
Filling:
Apples
Rum extract
Apricot jam
HOW TO MAKE APPLE TART
Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl add the flour; make a well in the center and put in vegan butter(room temperature), cane sugar, vanilla sugar and pinch of salt.
- Working with the tips of the fingers, rub the flour and ingredients together until the mixture forms particles the size of pea.
- Add water (1tbsp at a time). Mix it into the mixture to form a dough. Do not knead.
- Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30minutes.
Filling:
- Pell the apples and slice.
- Add rum extract (1tbsp). Toss well to make sure that all apples are in contact with the extract.
- Add apricot jam to a small pot. Melt it over low heat.
Apple tart:
- Preheat the oven (365F-10 min).
- Roll out the dough.
- Cut out and place in a muffin tray. Brush with melted jam.
- Arrange apple slices.
- Brush melted jam on the top.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes (365F) until the jam starts to caramelize lightly.
- Coll and serve.
VEGAN FRENCH APPLE TART TIPS
- Roll out the dough between two sheets of waxed parchment paper
- Use mandoline to slice the apples
- Refrigerate the dough for 5min after rolling (before cutting) if it gets too warm
- Use a cookie cutter to cut the dough
- You can substitute rum extract to rum liquor
- Cooking time may vary depending on the oven
- Apricot jam can be substituted to any jam of your choice
