Today I would like to share with you two recipes: creme de maroons (chestnut cream) vegan and traditional versions.
What is Crème de Marrons?
Crème de Marrons is a creamy sweet chestnut puree, which could be used a spread for toasts or crepes, you can add it to porridge or yoghurt. It was invented in 1885!
Crème de Marrons ingredients
Chestnuts: you could buy them in the supermarket. Everything about chestnuts could be read here.
Cream: use coconut cream for vegan version and heavy (whipping) cream for traditional recipe.
Sweetener: use cane sugar for vegan version and white sugar for traditional recipe.

Ingredients
Vegan Version
- 250 ml coconut cream full fat
- 200 g chestnuts
- 2 tbsp cane sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Traditional Vesrion
- 200 g chestnuts
- 250 ml cream
- 2 tbsp white sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Simmer chestnuts, sugar and vanilla for 10 min
- Puree everything
