VEGAN SOURDOUGH WAFFLES

This update on waffles gives the traditional dessert a rustic twist. These could easily serve as the base of a decadent dessert, topped with ice-cream, hot fudge sauce and whipped cream.

VEGAN SOURDOUGH WAFFLES INGREDIENTS 

Flour: all-purpose flour

Sourdough starter

Instant yeast

Oat milk 

Coconut oil 

Vegan egg: you could use aquafaba 

Cane sugar 

Vanilla sugar or vanilla extract 

HOW TO MAKE VEGAN WAFFLES 

  1. In a mixing bowl combine flour, instant yeast, cane sugar, vanilla sugar and pinch of salt.
  2. Pour in sourdough starter, oat milk and vegan egg, stir thoroughly.
  3. Add coconut oil (melted).
  4. Wrap the batter with plastic and leave in a warm place for 3 hours.  
  5. Bake waffles with a waffle maker according to manufactures instruction.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cane sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup oat milk
  • 1/2 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/4 cup aquafaba
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
