How to make your own vegan Crème de Marrons (Chestnut Cream) and traditional recipes

Today I would like to share with you two recipes: creme de maroons (chestnut cream) vegan and traditional versions.

 

What is Crème  de Marrons?

Crème  de Marrons is a creamy sweet chestnut puree, which could be used a spread for toasts or crepes, you can add it to porridge or yoghurt. It was invented in 1885!

Crème  de Marrons ingredients

Chestnuts: you could buy them in the supermarket. Everything about chestnuts could be read here.

Cream: use coconut cream for vegan version and heavy (whipping) cream for traditional recipe.

Sweetener: use cane sugar for vegan version and white sugar for traditional recipe.

Ingredients

Vegan Version

  • 250 ml coconut cream full fat
  • 200 g chestnuts
  • 2 tbsp cane sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Traditional Vesrion

  • 200 g chestnuts
  • 250 ml cream
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  • Simmer chestnuts, sugar and vanilla for 10 min
  • Puree everything
